THE GOAL ISN'T ABSTINENCE, IT'S CONSCIOUSNESS
A simple idea to help you manage your relationship with your phone in a more balanced way
"Pay Attention" Phone Bands
A mindful reminder to unplug from your phone anywhere, anywhere
Introduction
The average person spends more than four hours a day on their phone. That adds up to 60 full days a year—and nearly a quarter of our waking lives. The book "How To Break Up With Your Phone" contains an evidence-backed, hands-on plan for how you can break up—and then make up—with your phone. The goal isn’t to get rid of your phone; it’s to create a long-term relationship that feels good. You’ll discover how phones and apps are designed to be addictive, and learn how the time we spend on them damages our ability to focus, think deeply, and form new memories. You’ll then make customized changes to your settings, apps, environment, and mindset that will enable you to take back control of your life—and make more space for fun. Packed with tested strategies and tips, "How To Break Up With Your Phone" is an essential, life-changing guide for everyone who owns a smartphone.
"How to Break Up With Your Phone" has been published in 33 countries and translated into over 20 languages.
Challenge
Find a simple tool to help readers of the book "How To Break Up With Your Phone" and subscribers of ScreenLifeBalance.com build a positive habit with technology and implement the tips learned. The solution had to build brand awareness and recall.
Solution
After analyzing the key highlights of the book and the key messages the brand focuses on, we developed a customized version of our "No More Phubbing Bands".
We identified that “Phubbing” —the habit of snubbing someone in favor of a mobile phone — is often a conversation killer, especially for those readers who are trying to share their experience and learnings with their peers.
These bands are a simple way to help readers to spread the word as well as a marketing tool for Catherine Price to promote her brand. We suggest using these bands as "a more mindful business card" to give to potential readers attending events and book promotion groups.
We decided to make a branded display card including 2 phone bands. This way, people can use one for themselves and give one to that friend or colleague that they you would love to unplug and have a great conversation with.
At the same time, these customized bands could be sold in Catherine's website as a branded product.
Key Highlights
After giving more than 3000 sets of bands at book promotion related events, we have also created a new version to promote her business ScreenLifeBalance.com, a digital wellness consulting firm that is devoted to helping people and businesses scroll less & live more.
